Sing away the blues...

February 7, 2019

Studies show that singing in a group improves our mood and decreases stress. These effects can be attributed to the deeper breathing that comes with singing.  The benefits of singing in a group surpasses those singing on your own as it offers a sense of belonging to something bigger than ourselves.  In addition to the psychological effects, our physical health is also impacted in a positive way such as lower blood pressure, increased blood oxygen saturation, and stronger respiratory muscles. Making music produces measurable changes in the brain. For example it can help people heal after strokes by assisting the formation of alternative pathways around damaged brain tissue.

So add singing to your self-care regime! Singing in a group or choir-even better!  #singing #selfcare #sangat #healing
